这个句子(黑体)是:Peter noted that the continued pagan expenditure of energy was directed toward immoral and profligate ends, “into the same flood of dissipation” (eis tēn autēn tēs asōtias anachusin). “Flood” (anachusin), occurring only here in the New Testament, means “a pouring out” and came to denote an abundant outpouring, “a wide stream, a flood.” The readers’ energies had been directed toward an overflowing of ordinary restraints. That excess was characterized by two modifiers, both in the attributive position, that depicted its essential nature: the “same” (autēn) identified it as a continuation of the old vices, and “of dissipation” (tēs asōtias) indicated its dissolute nature.
花了一个小时,修改了好几遍,才大致弄清楚了前后逻辑。还是too young too naïve,对时态不够敏感。
